Photos

Wha ha ha, I have mastered the technology, apparently Alison would have been able to do it if she'd known, yeah that sounds about right.
Ok, here we are after about 18 hours of travel under our belts, Caleb final crashed out, we all ended up watching about four movies each and playing various games.
We got to Beijing about 8pm and our guide, Oliver, who was a legend picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at our Hotel. The Hotel was about 2kms east of Tiananmen square, well I think it was east. Our rooms, yes we had two massive rooms on the fouth floor. The hotel had an in door swimming pool that the kids took advantage of and a gym and squash court that were too busy for either Alison or I to utilise, yeah right.
Oliver picked us up in the morning about 8:30, after a three course breakfast that I'll into detail about later. Our first stop was Tiananmen square, what a massive expansion of concrete, big enough to hold a million people apparently, everything in China is soo big. This road in the foreground was about 12 lanes wide, luckily there was underpasses to enable the tourists to cross the road without getting run down.
After Tiananmen square we moved north across the road (under the road) to the Forbidden City, again what a massive place. I think I took about 80 photos of the place, should be a good old fashoned slide show when we get home. This photo was taken before we made our Beijing Olympic purchases, from now on you'll see us in hats and shirts sporting dodgy Olympic insignia.
Ok, that's about it for now, I just see if Alison wants to add anything else.....
Seeing the photo with the cars just made me remember how absolutely crazy the traffic was. There were marked lanes, but they meant nothing. They would weave between lanes, in and out of cars. There were millions of cyclists who wore no helmets and no lights at night. They rode at great peril, especially when they crossed roads, then the traffic wove between them too. We found it amazing that we only saw a couple of fender bender accidents, and nothing too major.
