We went to the Lama temple on the Sunday before we left, again a whole heap of impressive buildings and buddhist statues. The largest one of Maitreya was 26 metres tall and housed in a large impressive hall, the hall of infinite happiness. Hamish and Caleb found this bell that you could ring three times for 10 yuan, of course they had to try and ring it as hard as they could. The Lama temple has been the only place whereyou are not allowed to take photos inside the buildings.

Then we were walking towards the Lama temple the street were lined with shops selling what looked like fireworks, I later found that they were selling incense. It appears to be good luck to burn three incense sticks for budda at each hall, with the amount of people burn incense so of the fres in front of the halls were quite big. Along with not takig photos in the halls you were not allowed to burn incense in there either, pretty logical given that all the structures were made of wood.

After the Lama temple we went to the Confucian temple, here we are doing the tourist thing yet again.

A lot of renovation going on in this temple prior to the olympics next year.

These pillars of marble have all the confucian "graduates" names carved into them.
